[b]If you want to increase your speed you need to increase your intensity when you train and run. The best way to do is to increase your leg strength. The more powerful you can make your leg muscles, then the more force they will apply to each stride - jump you make at ground contact.

Power is a product of both strength and speed of contraction. If you make improvements in either of these components you WILL become a faster athlete. Now you need to train for the sport you are going to play. If you are playing football the average distance ran is 15-20 yards. But if you are trainning for basketbal or soccer then you need to increase the distance you are running.

You need to replicate the sport you are going to play when you are training and running. Have great 20 yard acceleration is not going to help you when you are running 300 yards and you are tired after 20 yards
